Every vacation needs some chill time. Today was that day,
We slept in for one, then strolled leisurely through the streets of Sighnaghi, enjoying its laid-back vibe, and even taking in a museum that combined fine art with history.

We chose the same spot for lunch where we had an excellent dinner the night before. We love the
place. Prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the food amazing! Besides, it was one of a few restaurants that could prepare food, as this is the message that greeted us, from the hotel staff, when we tried to have breakfast:
Dear guests, I would like to inform you that there is a gas outage in several districts of Kakheti and supply will be restored tomorrow morning at 10 am. We apologize to everyone for the situation. We were not aware of it and have only just received the information.

After lunch, we went back to the hotel to take a break from the heat, which exceeded 90 degrees, then went out again and spent some time at the Bodbe Church, where Saint Nino is buried. That's where we also had dinner.

Sighnaghi is a very small town, only 1,600 people live here, but of course it is also filled with numerous visitors. Still, it is a very finite locale, so, not having much more planned for the day, we took a drive to the larger town down in the valley, called Sakobo. Truly, the place looked uninspiring.
Eric summed it up by stating that this was a very industrial place while part of the Soviet Union (the building of an enormous factory of sorts sits vacant in its center), but all business probably ceased when the Russians pulled out, leaving the place in its decadent current reality.
When we returned to Sighnaghi, we tried a specialty of the place, wine ice-cream. While we were perplexed, it was actually quite good, and yes, it tasted just like red wine served in ice-cream form.

Later on at the hotel, while I was sitting at poolside doing some computer work, the owner served me a complimentary melon – the whole thing. It was delicious and quite tasty. The perfect ending for a relaxed day, while we look forward to tomorrow’s new escape.
მადლობა. This means Thank you in Georgian, and is pronounced Madloba.
Thank you for following our journeys, that is.
