We hung around the hotel until lunchtime, took a souvenir picture with Kafana and his cousin Wael, then casually strolled to the north side of Elephantine Island, stopping at a small local textile store, where we happily purchased a hand-made scarf.

Our destination was simply a place to have lunch at, a restaurant called King Jamaica that we had been wanting to try. We were not disappointed, in fact I would dare to say that it was the best meal I has so far, even though all meals we ate until now have been good.

Kafana provided a boat that took us to the Botanic Gardens, then again for the return trip. While nothing mesmerizing, the gardens provided an oasis of tranquility and shelter from the sweltering sun, as well as wonderful views.

It is now late afternoon. I am looking forward to another meal of camel meat for dinner, which I found to be super tasty. We will have an early flight back to Cairo in the morning. Kafana has arranged the boat and the cab for transportation at 6 AM. I will report again from the capital city. This time we will be staying in the city center. Buona Notte.
